Celebration Garden

Our Celebration Garden is a beautiful place, complete with flowering shrubs, benches, and a fountain and is located just east of the courtyard memorial garden. The computer graphic below was created by the late Christopher Triebes before construction of the garden was begun.

"I have taken you every place you set your foot."
Joshua 1:3

Thank you to Chris for the lovely graphic and to Pat Locke for finding the scripture references.

Credit for our Celebration Garden belongs first to Bob and Cris Ballenger, who took charge of the project, and then to the late Bill Hamilton, who did the landscaping and planting (as he did for the rest of the church property for many years). The initial "seed money" was a memorial gift given in memory of church member Don Mennie, and the rest of the money came through the sale of bricks.

Members and friends of the church had the opportunity to donate bricks to pave the patio, with forms in the bulletin, church office, and on the website in June 2000, where they could show up to three lines with up to 14 characters per line to be engraved on the bricks to

  Celebrate the seasons of God's love . . . .
  Remember a loved one,
  Celebrate a special occasion,
Honor a family member or friend,
Rejoice in being a part of our church family,
Inspire others with a scripture reference.

Our Celebration Garden was dedicated during Pres Fest on September 9, 2001. Rain caused many of the festivities, including the dedication, to be held indoors.

Another opportunity to order brick pavers was offered during May through July 2006.
