ChristCare/Small Groups

We value relationships at First Presbyterian. To help people share their lives and their faith with other Christians we offer a variety of small group and fellowship activities. These range from small groups with a trained facilitator to larger fellowship groups. Here are a few of the possibilities. While some of our small groups are at capacity, we always welcome the formation of new groups. If you have an interest in starting or joining a new group, please contact the church office.

ChristCare Small Groups  - These groups have a trained facilitator. The groups meet for community building, biblical equipping, worship and prayer, and missional service.

The Sharing and Caring ChristCare Group - This women's group meets on the 1st, 2nd and 4th Monday nights at 7:15 p.m. at the church. Their purpose is to love, honor, obey and serve our Lord through studying a wide variety of material that helps them to apply their faith to everyday life. Their mission projects have included PADS and keeping the communion silver polished. The group that studies together has fun together as well! Women can join them for just one study series. Small Groups/Fellowship Groups - These are groups of people who meet for fellowship.

Coffee House College Fellowship (CHCF) CHCF is a new ministry program designed for the 18 - 25 year old group that was begun during the summer of 2007 where graduating high school seniors and all college-age folks are welcome. This is not limited to First Pres; friends are invited too!  CHCF did not end when school started.  We are staying connected with those who have left our church community to pursue their academics.  We are still looking for prayer partners for our college-age students.  There are still a number of students whom we have not been able to pair up with a partner.  If you are interested in being a prayer partner and would like some additional information, please contact Sue Massaro at smassaro@sbcglobal.net.  A Thanksgiving brunch is being planned for Saturday, November 24, 2007; and other events discussed to reconnect over holiday breaks are Wear your Ugliest Holiday Sweater Christmas Party, Open Mic night, After Christmas grab bag, and of course, Coffee and Worship.  It is also an exciting time of year for CHCF as we welcome new students into our community through the local colleges.  The CHCF leadership team is busy investigating how to reach out to the local college students and offer them spiritual fellowship.  We are currently working on communications to the schools, events to connect with the students, and postings on our facebook page.

Men's Luncheon - On the 3rd Tuesday of the month (September through May), First Pres men and their guests are invited to the Men's Luncheon, which is held at Windsor Park in Carol Stream. Speakers talk about topics of interest to the group. Reservations can be made by calling the church office by the Friday before the event. Cost is $10.00. Contact: Dick Mitchell (630-668-4707).

Mom's Group - This is an informal gathering of babies through 5 year olds and their "adults" (moms, dads, grandparents, and caregivers). We meet the 1st and 3rd Friday each month in the 2 year old nursery from 10-11:30 a.m. Contact: Henrieta Ribiero (630-221-1994) or email  henrieta@comcast.net.

Too Early and Short Stack Society (TESS) - These two men's groups meet every Friday morning for fellowship over breakfast at the Seven Dwarfs Restaurant at 917 East Roosevelt. The first group, led by Harold Crittenden, meets at 6:00 a.m. The second group, founded by Al Webster, meets at 7:15 a.m. All First Presbyterian Church men are warmly invited to attend. For more info, click here. Contacts: Harold Crittenden (630-668-7754) and Dick Mitchell (630-668-4707).

Singles Adult Fellowship  (SAF) - Single men and women are invited to participate in the events planned for the single adults at First Pres. The group has sat together at church events, attended a concert, had a Bingo night, game night, Memorial Day picnic, and gone to the Field Museum. There is something for everyone! Participants have enjoyed mission, food and fellowship with old and new friends. This group has a wide variety of events and the dates are varied. Watch the bulletin for announcements about upcoming events. If you have questions or an event idea, please contact Sue Hervey or Karen Parkinson.

If your ChristCare or small group isn't represented or the information needs updating, please contact Bob Kusiolek.
