MISSION GOD FELLOWSHIP

JOIN PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

What better place to learn about caring, about helping, about growing, about loving, and about God's Word than with the members of Presbyterian Women.

We are women of faith forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit.  We are nurturers.  As caregivers, we care for and nourish individuals, our families, our church, our community, and our world.  We have a passion for mission.  We reach out to give special service to those in need.

We are women who are committed to care for ourselves, each other, our families, our church, our community, and God.  Come join us!  Get involved!  There are so many opportunities for you to use your talents, to share your love, to make lasting and committed friendships, and to learn about yourself and God.

MISSION

Our mission work includes not only caring for one another, but also our church, our community, and people in need throughout the world.

The members of Presbyterian Women participate in supporting activities and providing needed services and/or goods for organizations such as Rush University Medical Center (Chicago), Peoples' Resource Center, PADS, ESSE, and Kemmerer Village Outreach Community Center to name just a few.  As an organization, we review our mission program each year to determine where we can best serve those in need.  Many of our members participate in mission projects outside of those sponsored by PW, and may involve members in other service work.  Additional information about some of our world service projects is online.

In addition to "hands on" help, our financial giving, through programs such as the Birthday Offering, Least Coin, Thank Offering, and our monthly pledges, support local as well as worldwide missions.  Women devote time, energy, love, and support as well as prayer to those in need.

GOD'S WORD

Throughout our work and fellowship, God's Word leads us.  Each Circle devotes time each month to Bible Study and discussion. Studies have been devoted to books of the Bible, studies of specific topics (such as women in the Bible), and studies of special interest (such as Christian "mothering").  This special time of sharing creates an intimate bond among members of the Circles.

FELLOWSHIP

Through Circles - Circles are small groups of women devoted to nurturing and caring for one another.  Circles meet at least once a month at church or in members' homes to devote time to work on mission projects, Bible study and discussion, and fellowship.

Through Monthly Programs - The Coordinating Team (or "board") generally meets once a month on the first Thursday, from September to May,  in Stewart Hall 105.  The Team meets to discuss upcoming events, mission projects, Presbytery news, etc.  Any woman is invited, and we look forward to new input.  Generally, a program for the entire membership follows in Stewart Hall with a light lunch or refreshments.  All women are welcome!

Through Retreats - A very special time set aside for all women to grow and share emotionally and spiritually.  We try to "get away" for a weekend to devote time to one another, ourselves, and God.

Through Social Events - Two popular events have been an Auction and the Mother/Daughter Tea.  Both events combine fellowship, fun, and mission work.  These events make up the financial backbone of our mission responsibilities.
