Our church has established a partnership with local service agencies to help provide for the needs of individuals in our community. We provide both personal hands-on ( - symbol) and financial support ( - symbol) to our mission partners as tagged below.
Christmas Sharing
In December, a consortium of area churches collaborates to share the Christmas spirit with local needy families. Piles of clothing, household goods, shoes, and toys are assembled at each church to distribute to the families who have been invited to participate. Along with these items, each child receives a new toy, and each family receives a large box of food. This is a community-wide event and many donations are needed to make this program happen.
Focusing on families in Wheaton-Warrenville School District 200, the entire program serves over 600 families. First Presbyterian is one of the location where families come to participate. Our church invites over 100 families to "shop" in the Ministry Center. Volunteers sort the donations, prepare food boxes and assist during the distribution. Our mission is to provide a Christian connection to these needy families while we help clothe and feed them. View photos and more information from Christmas Sharing in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
