The following are some suggestions for
individual volunteers in this Mission. It will give you some ideas of our needs
and how you may contribute and serve in this mission outreach as part of First
Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, IL.
- Do you have a special gift or interest you might share
with someone?
- We review a series of Bible study booklets that
inmates at DuPage County Jail have responded to
- If you have a couple of free hours sometime during
the week, here are some ways we can use your help
- You could encourage an inmate through your comments
of affirmation and clarification. We never identify ourselves beyond our
first name and we don’t meet our correspondent, but we are appreciated!
- How can your family or small group participate?
- Special skills and/or resources we currently need
include:
- You will need to be patient with poor spelling and
grammar at times, but you’ll be rewarded often by the sincere joy at finding
Christ’s healing message by inmates
- Other opportunities for volunteers include:
- If a volunteer goes through the periodic screening
by the Sheriff’s Dept., he or she may go into the jail at Christmas time
to distribute cookies and sing carols to inmates.
- Other activities help raise funds from time to time
for the jail JUST Social Services
