Volunteer Opportunities: You are encouraged to call and set up a time to tour the warehouse and see what it's all about! There are various morning, afternoon, evening and weekend volunteer shifts (3 hours) to meet your particular needs.

• Help sort, clean, evaluate, and pack food for distribution to food shelters and pantries (groups welcome, but children must be at least 16 years old)
• Sponsor a Thanksgiving or Christmas meal that will feed a family of 6-8 people for only $20 through the Holiday Meal Box program
• Help assemble Holiday Meal Boxes throughout November and December
• Sponsor a Mobile Market for $350. This is a traveling food pantry where clients can shop directly from the truck, rather than from their local pantry, and they are given a choice of which foods they can receive.
• Small groups, men's groups, check this one out:

  Be a Food Rescue Truck Team! A rider and driver team obtains up to 3,000 lbs. of safe and nutritious prepared and perishable food that would otherwise be thrown away from Jewel-Osco stores, and delivers it directly to food pantries and shelters the same day. You can witness direct results of your labor, save waste, and enable nonprofits to maximize "buying power" of money usually spent on food. Mon. through Thurs. from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM. A regular class D driver's license is all that is necessary. Some heavy lifting is required. This program needs volunteers who are willing to make a weekly or monthly commitment.

  A small group could rotate the responsibility among their members and really contribute to this program.

• Participate in special events such as our annual Hunger Scramble in September - a golf outing to raise funds for our agencies in 12 counties, and Hunger Helpers in June - an event to generate funds and raise hunger awareness.
• Answer phones, help with computer work, prepare mailings in our office Mondays through Saturdays
