Pastor/Seminarian Visitors
It was great to have the following Pastor/Seminarian visitors join our Centennial Celebration and participate in our April 19, 2009, worship service and/or in our processional during the service.  We enjoyed the opportunity to see them and visit with them at a reception at the Carol Stream Holiday Inn on Saturday, April 18, as well as at our celebration in Stewart Hall following the worship service on Sunday, April 19, 2009.

Doug Brouwer and Family

Dr. Douglas J. Brouwer, Pastor, Head of Staff of First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton 1991-2004, and his family were missed at our Centennial Sunday celebration.

Doug was Pastor, Head of Staff at First Presbyterian Church, Ann Arbor, MI, from 2004 until April 5, 2009.  He began his new position as Senior Pastor, First Presbyterian Church, Ft. Lauderdale, FL - http://www.firstpres.cc - on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2009.  Congratulations, Doug!

Doug and his wife, Susan DeYoung, have been married for nearly 32 years.  Their daughter Sarah Brouwer is now in her final year at Luther Theological Seminary.  Under the care of Twin Cities Presbytery, Sarah is hoping to be ordained in the PCUSA within the next year.  She was married last summer—the joyous occasion for their family photograph.  Their daughter Elizabeth is a senior at the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy, University of Michigan.  She is hoping to find an internship for next year in government before applying to graduate school for the following year.

This information and the above photo are from the brochure on the website of the First Presbyterian Church of Ft. Lauderdale, FL - http://firstpres.cc/images/Brouwerbrochure.pdf.

Our thanks to Phyllis Josephson and Bob Stevensfor the photos!
