Genesis Mission - July 19, 2010
Northern Illinois Food Bank
|
Our Genesis youth took a trip to St. Charles to the Northern Illinois Food Bank for a mission project on July 19, 2010. Twenty-four of our youth and leaders spent the afternoon packaging up boxes of breakfast cereal and wiping off and putting ingredient contents labels on Capri Sun juice bags. At 10 cereal boxes per box, 24 boxes per pallet, and 4 pallets completed, we boxed 960 boxes of cereal. We also cleaned and labeled over 2,952 juice pouches. Our hard work was rewarded by a job well done and slurpies from the Seven/Eleven.

Northern Illinois Food Bank's vision is to create a hunger-free northern Illinois. Its mission is to provide nutritious food to all those in need through its own efforts and those of its nonprofit partners. NIFB acquires donated food and financial support from retailers, manufacturers, corporations, and community resources. It distributes the food to hungry people through a network of nonprofit food pantries, shelters, soup kitchens, and other food assistance sites. Here in Wheaton they serve the PRC and the Milton Township Food pantry. For more information on the Food Bank go to http://www.northernilfoodbank.org.
