Abraham's Children and TESS Breakfast
November 7, 2009

Abraham's Children and TESS (Too Early and Short Stack Society) presented a wonderful breakfast on Saturday, November 7, 2009, at 8:30 a.m. here at First Presbyterian Church, with all proceeds going to Archbishop Chacour's Mar Elias University in Galilee.  The website for Mar Elias Campus - Nazareth Galilee Academic Institution can be found at http://mec.sahrat.net.

The program, "The Endangered Species" Christians in the Holy Land, was presented by Rev. Dr. Don Wagner, Professor and Director of the Center for Middle Eastern Studies at North Park University, Co-organizer of the Evangelical Christian-Muslim Dialogue Project, and Author of Dying in the Land of Promise, which traces the history and the present crisis of Christians in the Holy Land, and Anxious for Armageddon, which is about Christian Zionism and the crisis of traditional Christians and newcomers in the Holy Land.

Cerena Fischer is selling items produced in Bethlehem and Beit Sahour (the town of the Shepherd’s Field next to Bethlehem) in Israel.   Proceeds from these items go directly to the Palestinian Christian artisans.   For more information or to purchase these beautiful items, contact Cerena Fischer at 630-289-4942 or by email at cmfischer2@aol.com. You can also view photos and obtain more information on the Bethlehem Imports website - http://www.bethlehemimports.org.

The breakfast was up to TESS' usual very high standards and featured the egg casserole shown in the oven picture above. There was plenty of food as usual.

A good crowd, which included 17 college students from both North Park University and Paul Kirbas' class at Wheaton College, enjoyed the breakfast and presentation.

Above, the large screen displayed our Skype connection with Nazareth.  Paul Kirbas served as coordinator of the connection.

Below on the left, Dr. Don Wagner discussed "The Endangered Species" Christians in the Holy Land.  On the right Greg Drinan, shown holding a picture of a school desk promoting Elias Chacour's "Peace begins on the top of school desks," invited members of the audience to purchase a desk at the college for $75.
