Sunday, November 4, 2007, was a busy morning at First
Presbyterian Church of Wheaton. Rev. Elizabeth G. Walker
preached her candidacy sermon at our 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. worship
services.
At the Congregational Meeting held after the 11:00 service, the
church members voted to approve
the recommendation of our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee
to call her as our new Associate Pastor
for Pastoral Care Elect. Following the 8:40 a.m. service
both Elizabeth Walker
and Paul Kirbas greeted members in the Rotunda, and the Deacons
served coffee and lemonade.
Meanwhile just down the link in Stewart Hall was the Presbyterian
Women's Mission Project Bake Sale, which was held following
both of the services. Many different
kinds of goodies were available for the
cost of a donation, and all
proceeds will benefit the mission work of Presbyterian Women. Many
members of the congregation participated by
baking items to sell and/or by taking home some goodies to stock
their freezers for the coming holidays or enjoy that afternoon. |
