PATHWAYS

April 6 - May 4             Two Class Offerings

The Early Memories of Jesus
Dr. Gary M. Burge

Many studies of Jesus' life look at his profound teachings or his miracles in order to gain a glimpse of his true identity. Few, however, examine some of John's memories about what Jesus did before his great public ministry got underway. In this class, we will look at six important events in Jesus’ life found in John 1-4. The teacher, Dr. Gary M. Burge, has taught adult education for us many times. He has been a professor of New Testament at Wheaton College since 1991. His specialty is the life of Christ and in particular, the writings of John, about which he has written four books and a variety of articles.

Older Adults: The Benefits of Community for Older Adults and their Caregivers
Vanessa Roth

This Adult Forum will focus on both what the Bible teaches us about older adults and caregivers and how building a community of support around each other helps to ease the difficulties during this time in a family’s life. Over the course of six weeks, this class will study understanding the life transitions for older adults, understanding the physical and emotional challenges experienced by older adults, understanding the life transitions and challenges of caring for an older adult, and what scripture teaches us about the “Community of Believers” and how that assists in handling each stage of life. Our Facilitator/Teacher, Vanessa Roth, is currently a director at the Wheaton Outreach Community Center. She is actively involved in the issues of the elderly and works within the city of Wheaton for awareness and advocacy.
