Sunday November 14th was a busy day in the life of the church as we celebrated two wonderful events; CONSECRATION SUNDAY when we celebrate our commitments to Him and His church, as well as CONFIRMATION SUNDAY when we welcomed 34 of the newest (and youngest) members of First Pres Wheaton.

One of the largest classes in recent years, this group of confirmands began their journey in the 8th grade.

Below: partnered with their sponsors and wrapped around the sanctuary, the confirmands are personally (and uniquely) introduced to the congregation by their sponsors.

During the LIVE phase 8th grade students attend Sunday morning classes on basic Christian beliefs following the topics laid out in the Apostle's Creed.

The LEARN phase takes place during the first two months of the 9th grade year.  Students learn what it means to invest in your faith, growth as a disciple of Christ and practice discipleship skills including Fellowship, Prayer, Worship, Learning, and Service.

In the SHARE phase, Confirmands review all they have learned and write a personal Statement of Faith.  They share their Statement with the Elders of the Session then proclaim their faith and intention to live as a disciple of Christ before the congregation on Confirmation Sunday.
