Faithbuilders – April 28, 2010
Marion Blumenthal Lazan

A large crowd was on hand and captivated by the presentation of Marion Blumenthal Lazan at our Wednesday Evening Faithbuilders Program on April 28, 2010.

Mrs. Lazan is the co-author of Four Perfect Pebbles, A Holocaust Story.  As described on her website, http://www.fourperfectpebbles.com, the Blumenthal family – Marion, her brother Albert, and their parents – spent six and a half years during the holocaust living in refugee, transit, and prison camps including Westerbork in Holland and the notorious Bergen-Belsen in Germany.  They survived the camps; but Marion's father, Walter Blumenthal, died from typhus shortly after liberation.

As explained on her website, "Mrs. Lazan's mission is to speak to as many people as possible, students and adults, so they can hear the story from a Holocaust survivor.  Her presentation goes beyond the facts; she applies the lessons learned to society today. She asks her audience to be tolerant of others and not stereotype individuals based on religious belief, color, race or national origin. She stresses the importance of positive thinking as well as creativity and inner strength when working to overcome adversity.  She warns her listeners to be true to themselves and not blindly follow the leader."
