Breakfast
December 3, 2006
Food, fun, and fellowship were enjoyed by our
middle school youth at the Genesis Breakfast held in Stewart
Hall, Rooms 106-107, on December 3, 2006, in celebration of the
first Sunday of Advent.
This breakfast took place at the same time as
the Advent Festival in Rooms 101-103 of Stewart Hall.

The eighth graders brought fruit or beverages. The
seventh graders brought sausages or bacon, and the sixth graders
brought donuts, bagels, etc. |
|
| Pastor Paul Kirbas came in and
told the youth about crismons, their history and meaning, and
then they each made one, either for the tree in the Sanctuary
or for their Christmas trees at home.

The name crismon (or chrismon) comes from two words, Christian
monograms, and are symbols of our belief and faith. Traditionally,
a crismon tree has only white and gold ornaments, with white
lights.
The crismon being made above
on the left is the symbol for the manger, for the Baby Jesus
born in Bethlehem. Other Christian symbols used for crismons
include the seashell, representing baptism, the lyre or harp,
representing David and his music, and the dove, representing
the Holy Spirit.
