On July 19, 2007, on one of their mission outings several
Genesis volunteers went to the Milton Township Food Pantry and
helped sort and stack cans of food.
The Milton Township Food Pantry serves 500 people a month. They
get the majority of their food from the Northern Illinois Food
Bank. This food is supplemented by donations
from the community. The food pantry also needs personal
items such as toilet paper, bar soap, and diapers as these
items cannot be purchased with food stamps. This food
is purchased with donated funds. Each
month costs $2,000.00. The
shipment of food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank costs $2000
per month and is purchased with donated funds. It is received
on the
third Thursday of each month; and volunteers
are needed starting at 9:15 a.m. to take the food inside,
unpack it, and put on the shelves. For more information
call Patrick Ryan at 630-668-1616. The Milton Township
Food Pantry is located at 1492 North Main Street Wheaton, IL.
