| Kirkin' o' the Tartans January 27, 2008
We celebrated the Scottish heritage of the Presbyterian
Church through a wonderful service of bagpipes and
drums, tartans, beadles, Scottish liturgy, and traditions
of the old Scottish Kirk at our church's first Kirkin'
o' the Tartans services at 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. worship
services on Sunday, January 27, 2008.
Our 2007 annual congregational meeting with a “State
of the Church” address by Dr. Paul J. Kirbas
was held between the worship services.
The State of the Church presentation can
be downloaded as an audio
file in mp3 format or as a video
file in mov format. The video format includes
the slides from the powerpoint presentation and is
about 75 MB in size, while the audio format is only
about 5 MB in size (a much faster download). Right
click either link to save the target on your own computer. |

| We especially enjoyed the Penetangore Pipes and
Drums from Kencardine, California - Tom Christensen,
Steve La Rue, Mike Fitak, and Jeff Beatty, bagpipers,
Bill Peterson, snare drum, and Paula Christensen, bass
drum. |
| Both the 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. services were very
well attended, with many of the worshipers wearing
Scottish clothing, some of the men even wearing kilts. Our
Westminster Choir and Paul Burgess on the keyboard
also participated in the musical celebration of our
faith traditions. |

At the end of the service, just before the final
blessing and the Recession of the Tartans, everyone
stood and sang "Amazing Grace" together with the music
from bagpipes and drummers, a perfect conclusion to
our Kirkin' o' the Tartans worship service. |
