Moses Hogan, one of America's
most gifted pianists, conductors, and arrangers,
presented a program at First Presbyterian
Church of Wheaton on Saturday, September
7, 2002, attended by about 90 people from
the First Presbyterian Churches of Wheaton
and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and various other
music professionals, coordinated by Jean
Spyksma. This all-day choir retreat included
a continental breakfast in the church rotunda,
a box lunch in Stewart Hall, and concluded
with a catered picnic at the Spyksmas' home.
On Tuesday, February 11, 2003, Moses Hogan
died at St. Elizabeth's Nursing Home, Harvey,
Louisiana. He had suffered a massive stroke
on October 14, 2002, and a brain tumor was
found. The prayers and support received
were a great source of strength for Moses
and his family and friends. If you would
like to send his mother, Gloria, a care
card or note, please drop it in the offering
plate or in the church office, and we’ll
forward it. You may also send Care Cards
from our website anytime - just click on
care
card, type in the information, and then
click on send.
