Ravinia Trip - July 18, 2004

Wonderful music, beautiful weather, food, and fellowship all combined to make our annual trip to Ravinia a great success again in 2004. A busload of First Presbyterian members enjoyed a wonderful concert by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at Ravinia on July 18, 2004. Violinist Erik Schumann, of Ravinia Rising Star fame, made his Festival debut essaying Dvorak's Violin Concerto in A Minor, Op. 53; and Dimitri Maslennikov, also in his Ravinia debut, performed Shostakovich's Cello Concerto No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 107. Rounding out the evening in fiery style was the quintessential symphony, Beethoven's Fifth, under the loving leadership of former Ravinia music director Christoph Eschenbach.

Our thanks to John Herndon for the pictures!
