Long Visit - April 24, 2005
| First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton was delighted to
welcome Dr. Thomas G. Long to our pulpit and our educational experience
on Sunday morning, April 24, 2005. He is the Bandy Professor of
Preaching in the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.
He is asked to speak across the nation on worship and preaching
topics and has written a book on the characteristics of worship
in vital and faithful congregations. He is a marvelous speaker
and a warm human being. |
|
|
| Dr. Long's message during the worship services was Singing
in Jail. The scripture reference was Acts 16:16-34. |
|
| Dr. Long also gave a presentation about worship during our
adult education hour in the Ministry Center. |

|
|
Beyond the Worship Wars: Building Vital and
Faithful Worship by Thomas G. Long, published in 2001,
is available in our church library and through retail outlets
such as Amazon.com. It includes
lots of ideas and approaches which have guided our worship planners
for several years.
