The evening of 24 April included dinner at the Brio Tuscan Grille in Downers Grove followed by the Wiffenpoofs Choir concert and reception in St Paul Lutheran Church in Villa Park. An unexpected, stunningly excellent bonus was the warm-up performance by the absolutely outstanding, 22 member Glenbard East a cappella choir. What fun and fellowship was had by all of our small group from First Pres.
We began with a marvelous meal at Brio's and enjoyed the Wiffenpoofs Choir performance and humor on their one-year-off, seniors world tour.
At the reception after the concert we met with the performers and particularly enjoyed the one Wiffenpoof member honored for his creativity and being on the edge with their "Turkey" award. Instead of a white bow tie he wore a Yale, gold and black striped bow tie and flip-flops (see below).
Before leaving the USA, they are performing at each member's hometown or home church. This church's member had a marvelous base voice and entered Yale having aced the ACT and SAT tests. A collection of event photos is provided below, beginning with our dinner. |
