Serving at FPCW

Please contact the church office for more information about serving.

Adult Education

The Adult Education committee is responsible for organizing programs throughout the year, along with several fellowship events. You are welcome to get involved as either a member of the Leadership Team or as an Instructor.

Audio Visual Ministry Team

The A/V Ministry Team welcomes new members who are comfortable with (or want to learn about) audio or video recording and projection equipment or computers or media content tools. Meetings are currently Saturday mornings twice a month.

Buildings and Grounds Committee

This committee is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the church property and approves expenditures needed for property improvement.

Caritas Team Ministry

Caritas Care Team Ministry at First Pres is helping folks who have had changes in their lives and need a little extra help with going out for lunch, preparing a meal, holding an infant, taking a walk, reading a book out loud, making a phone call, tending a garden, or having a nice chat. There are a variety of ways to serve; please contact us.

Caritas Meal Team

Our Caritas Meal Team is looking for people who enjoy cooking, delivering meals or coordinating a meal team to sign up for a month (or months if you choose) to be on call when a church member needs a meal. The need for sharing meals is immediate, so let us know if you can help.

Caritas Visiting Team

If you have an interest or gifts in working with seniors, we would love to tell you more about the Caritas Visiting Team, we have many church members who have requested a visitor to chat with them, do a puzzle, read a book, listen to music, or look through old photo books.

Children's Ministry Team

The Children’s Ministry Team provides oversight for all of the programming for children and their families. If you enjoy working with children and helping families to connect through faith and fellowship then come join us! The team meets once a month during the week.

Communication Committee

We are looking for people who would like to help expand our church's visibility throughout the community. There are two basic skills needed and one doesn't have to have both of them. The first is familiarity with the web and how to post information on a website blog or event page. The second is basic writing ability. However much time you have available-we would welcome your help!

Communion Ministry

Have you ever thought about serving your fellow brothers and sisters in Christ through Communion? You could help purchase and prepare the communion elements for Worship services. If you are an active or retired, ordained elder or deacon from this church or previous church you attended, you could serve on the communion servers’ team.

Gardeners

Do you like to garden? We are in need of someone or a small team of gardeners to share in maintaining and beautifying our Celebration Garden on a rotating basis.

Gifts & Memorials Committee

This committee's purpose is to honor church members by their prayerful and prudent use of donations. Gifts augment worship, enhance study, aid in Mission Outreach, and add beauty and greater function to the facilities.

High School Youth Leadership

Adult leaders for the senior high school youth group (Westminster Fellowship) participate in many activities throughout the year, including an annual Mission trip each June.

Human Resources Committee (HRC)

The HRC is an advisory group to Session on personnel matters. The HRC makes recommendations to Session on employee benefits, policies, conflict resolution, staffing plans, salaries, personnel budget and other personnel matters. An HRC member serves on all search committees. Session has delegated the responsibility for conflict resolution to the HRC. The HRC also conducts annual staff interviews.

Music & Worship

Opportunities in Worship & Music Ministries are rich and varied; from the Westminster Choir, Celebration Ringers, & instrumental and vocal opportunities, to being on a service team.

Office and Finance Committee

The Office and Finance Committee monitors and reviews all financial activity of the church and annually prepares the church budget for submission to Session for approval. As needed, the Committee prepares accounting procedures and policies.

2nd Tuesday of month 7:30 p.m.

The Worship Flower Committee

The Worship Flower Committee coordinates the weekly worship flower calendar for members who want to honor or designate flowers in memory of a loved one, orders the floral arrangements, and places the arrangements in the Sanctuary each week.

Usher Service

Being an usher is a great way to meet and greet your fellow Christians. All we need from you is one service on one Sunday per month: come 15 minutes early and stay 15 minutes after the service to clean up. This volunteer opportunity comes with on-the-job training by your crew’s head usher and usher captain so there are no meetings to attend! Women, youth, men, and families are welcome.

Visual Arts Committee

The Visual Arts Committee works to create new ways to visually praise God. Artwork, flowers, and banners help make the message more visual to experience God’s presence in our lives both in worship and throughout the church building. Members enjoy interior decorating, sewing, construction, flower arranging, and brainstorming ways to make things visually pleasing and we're always looking for creative people to join us!

"I have never been so impressed with a group of high school students after seeing them in action on their annual mission trip! They care about each other as much as they do those in need."
