Vision and Mission - We believe that God is glorified through music as
it expresses and interprets the scriptures in worship. The music program at First
Presbyterian Church of Wheaton is proud to offer a vital ministry to all ages. Our
first priority is to enrich the worship life of the congregation through variety
and wonder! |
Supporting Groups -
The Westminster Choir is for individuals of
high school age through adult. Their repertoire includes
a broad spectrum of traditional choral literature, as
well as contemporary anthems and service music. The
choir's primary focus is to lead musically in worship
each Sunday, but they also seek to broaden their mission
by participating in other community musical events.
The current Westminster
Choir Schedule is available on this web site. Contact
David Lincoln for more information about the Westminster
Choir.
Our Children's Music Program, Academy of Music and Art, is beginning on Thursdays on September 9, 2010. This program is designed to help children use their talents and use the performing arts to worship God. The Glorious Cherubs (4 year old children through first graders) meet from 4:45–5:25 p.m., and the Mighty Angels (second through0 fifth graders) meet from 5:25–6:15 p.m. We will be covering rhythm, chimes, bells, percussion, singing, drama, drums, movement, general music theory, improvisation, worship leading, and Bible study. Both groups will be participating in worship once or twice a month. Read more about this program, and register your children for this wonderful opportunity!
The Celebration Ringers is our high school and
adult handbell choir. They practice and play in worship
monthly on an arranged basis. It is an adept musical
group and is open to all capable music readers, no previous
bell experience required. Contact David Lincoln
for more information about the Celebration Ringers.
Celebration Service Ensembles are
a great way to get involved in singing or playing an
instrument for a contemporary type of service. Contact David Lincoln for more information about becoming involved in the music for contemporary services.
Occasionally during worship, additional vocalists and
instrumentalists are used to enhance the worship experience,
either in a solo/ensemble arrangement or as part of
an orchestra.
DO YOU SING OR PLAY AN INSTRUMENT AND ARE NOT INVOLVED
IN THE MUSIC MINISTRY? -- Contact David Lincoln to get involved in worship at First Presbyterian.
