Our
worship is Christ-centered, welcoming, and alive
Our worship is Christ-centered
As Presbyterians, we believe Jesus Christ to be the
living Word. In our worship we gather to hear the Word
proclaimed, receive the Word in sacrament, and go forth
to follow the Word into the world.
Our worship is welcoming
From beginning to end, in everything we do, our worship
is a response to the grace we have experienced in Jesus
Christ. Knowing first-hand the unconditional love and
acceptance of Jesus Christ, we are welcoming and hospitable
to those who worship with us. Our tone in worship is
affirming and celebrating, not judging and shaming.
We think of our order of worship as a kind of script
or drama in which we all play vital roles, prompted
and led by our worship leaders. Our worship is welcoming
to all age groups. We seek to be sensitive to the unique
needs, interests, and contributions of children, youth,
seniors, singles, couples, and families.
Our worship is alive
Our worship provides an opportunity for a life-changing
encounter with Jesus Christ. When we worship we are
encouraged to be actively involved, not just passive
observers of what happens "up front." We give
expression to our faith in different ways and with different
gifts. The presence and movement of the Holy Spirit
as we worship is mysterious yet real. Our worship is
Spirit-filled.
Christian worship joyfully ascribes all praise and
honor, glory and power to the triune God. In worship
the people of God acknowledge God present in the world
and in their lives. As they respond to God’s claim and
redemptive action in Jesus Christ, believers are transformed
and renewed. In worship the faithful offer themselves
to God and are equipped for God’s service in the world.
