Children, from infancy to adulthood, are a very important part of the life of
First Presbyterian Church.
During the Summer (May 30 - September 5, 2010) . . .
CHILDCARE INFORMATION: During the summer childcare is available during both the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. worship services. The easiest entrances to use for visitors with preschoolers are the Rotunda doors at the northwest corner of the parking lot. Childcare for infants through age 2 is in Room LL103 and for 3-4 year olds is in Room LL101. Greeters will direct you to these rooms down the staircase from the Rotunda or by using our elevator there. Our childcare staff is
composed of adults and teens who are church members who love children.
WORSHIP FOR CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 2 - Because we all "learn
by doing" and we believe that worship is so important, we want our children
to be in worship with their families. Just prior to the sermon during both the 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. worship services children in kindergarten through grade 2 are invited to leave, usually with Mrs. Shelley Iliff, our Children's Ministry Coordinator, for a special children's worship service, "Proclaiming God's
Word," that is age appropriate and held in the Choir Room. This program
includes Bible stories and stories to help the children learn about following the teachings
of Jesus. Sometimes the focus is on our worship together in the Sanctuary.
We pray together and sometimes sing together. The children return to the Sanctuary after the sermon.
INFANTS' ROOM - An infants' room is available for parents with infants
and small children during worship in Sanctuary Hall (under the sanctuary). A
TV monitor will display the worship service so you can care for your child and still
participate in worship. This room is open for all 8:30 and 10:00 a.m. services that are
held in the Sanctuary.
The nursery is also available
for childcare during all 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. worship services.
THERE ARE NO SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSES OR ADULT EDUCATION CLASSES SCHEDULED FROM MAY 30 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 5, 2010.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL will be held June 21 - 25, 2010, from 9:15 - 11:30 a.m. There are two programs, Galactic Blast for children entering 4 year old pre-school through Grade 4, and Service Squad for those entering Grades 5 through 8. Adult and teen volunteers are also needed. See our Upcoming Events for Youth page for additional information and registration. From September through May . . .
CHILDCARE is available during worship services at 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. for infants, 2 year olds, and preschool children. Childcare is also available during our education hour from 9:55 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. for children under age 2. The INFANTS' ROOM is also available during all 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. services that are
held in the Sanctuary.
CHILDREN IN KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 2 are invited to participate in their special "Proclaiming God's
Word" worship opportunity during the sermon at all 8:40 and 11:00 a.m. worship services.
SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASSESare
held from Homecoming Sunday in September through mid May each year during our Education Hour
from 9:55 a.m. - 10:50 a.m. There are separate classes for 2 year olds, 3
year olds, 4 year olds, kindergartners, and grades 1 through 8, in addition to the
classes for confirmation, high school students, and adults. Thanks be to God
that we have such caring adults who want to share the faith with our young people
and that we have so many eager to learn! We invite the prayers of the entire church
family for the teachers and the learners.
FIRST PRESBYTERIAN PRESCHOOL, the first preschool in Wheaton, has been serving this church and the community
since 1967. Preschool is often a child's first school experience and sets the stage for future
years of formal education. First Presbyterian Preschool provides a safe, caring,
Christian environment that stimulates the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive

In 2007 we offered a Jesus Loves Me Book Club for children, ages
2 through 1st grade. The books are still available in the church library, and
the discussion questions for parents and children to do together are still available
on this website.
Our LOGOS program for young people from kindergarten
through eighth grade is held on Wednesdays from fall through March each year.
